Dotties Weight Loss Zone

I don't mind admitting that I'd never in my life heard of Dotti's Weight Loss Zone. Who on earth was Dotti? And what was the Zone? Curiosity got the better of the cat, so I googled it. Hey, I'm still getting used to this space-age technology; I'd put my coat on to go to the library before I remembered The Computer.

I have a running battle with The Computer. It sits on my desk mocking me and attracting huge amounts of dust. And it never does what I ask. Mainly because I ask the wrong questions!

Enough of my being a Virtual Dinosaur. Back to Dotti. She is a real person who has made a website about her weight loss journey - and that journey has been quite spectacular. In the last 10 years Dotti has lost 100lbs in weight, and more importantly, has never gone back up to that weight. She refers to weight loss as a journey, not a destination, and her favourite motto is "One day at a time, no guilt and move on when you hit a rough spot".

Excellent advice!

The more I read, the more I got to like her; she's an ordinary person in her middle years who struggles with her weight, just like the rest of us. She has family crises, loves eating out and frequently falls off the wagon and overeats and doesn't get to the gym. Also just like the rest of us! I'm a Personal Trainer and I can't pretend I don't know what to eat and what exercise to do - but I don't always do it. I love all the "wrong" foods - pizza, cheese, ciabata and chocolate; dislike lovely, yummy healthy vegetables, and positively hate treadmills and dumbbells. And I admit it - I'm around 10lb overweight. Shoot me!

Well they say confession is good for the soul - do you think that's 10lb worth?

Dotti is a devoted follower of the Weightwatchers method of weight loss, and rarely misses a meeting.
I approve of Weightwatchers; their eating plan and "food points" system is easy to follow and sensible, and they advocate regular exercise - which is music to my ears after looking at some of these crash diet sites!
The weekly meetings to weigh-in wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but act as a great motivator and opportunity to socialise.

The rest of the site consists of a message board, chatroom and articles on getting thin and staying that way. There's even a section on recipes, and a cookbook to buy, and you can sign up for a free newsletter.
After reading my way through Dotti's weight loss blog, I felt like I knew her, and I enjoyed the whole site.
If you'd like to take a look, go here; I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did and feel re-motivated to continue on your weight loss journey.

Or even start one. Now where did I put those dratted dumbbells?
