This information cannot take the place of a program personally taught by a qualified instructor. It is intended for informative and educative purposes only and no responsibility can be taken for injury or discomfort arising thereof.
Always consult a health professional or doctor before embarking on any exercise program, especially if you live a sedentary lifestyle, smoke or drink more than a moderate amount of alcohol, are a male over 40 or female over 50, have any family history of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke or early death from any illness including cancer.
Professional advice prior to starting any exercise program should also be sought if you have any back or shoulder pain/injuries, joint problems, arthritis or osteoporosis. You should not do these exercises if you are pregnant or within 12 weeks of childbirth unless cleared by your doctor or midwife.
In short, if there is ANY question mark over your ability to exercise, you MUST see a doctor.
All the best,
Carol J Bartram
